The World Professional Chuckwagon Association was saddened by the passing of former chuckwagon driver Pete Mullaney on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from natural causes at the age of 93.

Pete's chuckwagon career started in 1947 when he joined up with Cliff Claggett's legendary barnstroming tours and began to drive both thoroughbred and pony chuckwagons. His he drove until 1967 when injuries forced him to retire. Pete was a two-time World Pony Chuckwagon Champion in 1954 and again in 1966. In addition to driving a chuckwagon, Pete was an accomplished musician and could often be seen playing a fiddle or a banjo around the chuckwagon barns. A barber by trade, Pete managed Molar Barber College for 1 year, prior to opening the Maurice Barber school in 1960 which he ran for many years, graduating over 1000 students including son`s Doyle and Deryle along with Chuckwagon drivers Tommy Glass and Dallas Dorchester.  His sons Doyle and Deryle followed Pete into the chuckwagon business, and in 1995 Pete was awarded with the WPCA's esteemed Special Tribute Award. Pete remained an active supporter of the WPCA and chuckwagon racing and related charities as a member of the Firewagon Chuck wagon Association

Pete Mullaney will be missed by all in the WPCA, and we extend our sincere condolences to the Mullaney family. Funeral services will be held September 9, 2013, 11:00am at Snodgrass Funeral Home, Okotoks.
