Day 2 of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship was run on a hot Friday evening in Bonnyville and saw 2009 Bonnyville finalist Obrey Motowylo, driving the H & E Oilfield Services outfit, win the top prize for the night after posting a run of 1:16.14.
Coming off barrel number 1 in heat number 8, Motowylo posted the top time of the night by 13 one-hundreds of a seconds over Jason Glass who placed second on the day. Colt Cosgrave, Kirk Sutherland and Grant Profit filled out the top five times for night number two.
The day money run puts Obrey Motowylo into first place overall with a 2 day combined time of 2:33.87. Colt Cosgrave sits a close second with Chad Harden filling out the top 3 after 2 runs. Kirk Sutherland is in 4th place overall just 41 one-hundreds of a second out of the 3rd and final qualifying spot for Sunday’s George Normand Memorial Sudden Death Championship Final Heat, with Cliff Cunningham rounding out the top five after 2 runs.
The top 3 wagons after Saturday’s run will compete in the George Normand Memorial Sudden Death Championship Final on Sunday, where the winner will take home the 2010 Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship along with a $15,000.00 bonus cheque.
The chuckwagon races from the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship will continue Saturday evening starting at 7:00 PM, with the finals and the running of the $15,000.00 George Normand Memorial Sudden Death Final on Sunday at 2:00 PM. Live radio coverage can be heard Thursday – Saturday at 6:45pm, with the finals on Sunday at 1:45pm on Classic Country AM1060 out of Calgary, 890AM CJDC out of Dawson Creek and 99.7 FM The Wolf out of Bonnyville.
