Personal Information
Ryan rode only part time in 2010 as he is embarking on a career as a chuckwagon driver on the Western Chuckwagon Association (WCA) circuit. He was part of history on opening day of the 2010 WCA circuit at Grande Prairie when he was hooked against his father Bruce McAleney and grandfather Brian Lewis – the first time that 3 generations of the same family raced not only at the same competition, but in the same heat. Ryan won the 2009 Ponoka Stampede outriding for Obrey Motowylo, was the 2007 WPCA Top Rookie Outrider and his 7th place in the World Standings is the 2nd highest placing by a rookie outrider in WPCA history. Under the guidance of Mike and Chanse Vigen, Ryan made his debut ride at the 2006 Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby. A former bull rider and team roper, Ryan was the Team Roping season leader in high school rodeo, and went to the Wild Rose and Northern Rodeo Associations finals. A third generation chuckwagon competitor, Ryan's grandfathers are former chuckwagon drivers Larry Kennedy and Brian Lewis. In the off season Ryan helps his father Bruce train thoroughbreds and works as a plumber. He enjoys bull riding, team roping and hockey, and makes his home in Sexsmith, Alberta.
