Personal Information
One of the more colourful drivers on the WPCA Pro Tour, Darcy was the 2004 WPCA Top Rookie Driver, received the 2006 WPCA Most Improved Driver Award, and was the 2009 Colonial Days Fair Champion. He posted 8 top ten runs in 2011, including a day money run at the Colonial Days Fair and 2 runs that placed inside the top five, and made his fifth trip to the winner–take–all championship final heat at the Colonial Days Fair as well. Darcy holds the track record at the Colonial Days Fair in Lloydminster, is a three-time aggregate winner at the Colonial Days Fair, and has twice competed at the Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby. He is the eldest son of former Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion the late Herman Flad and older brother to fellow competitor Troy Flad. A rancher in the off-season, Darcy is a graduate of Olds College and has two children - Layne and Cheyenne-Jill. He lists hockey, rodeo, team roping and hunting among his other interests and hobbies. Darcy and Richelle make their home in Bodo, Alberta.
