Personal Information
One of professional chuckwagon racing's most talented drivers and greatest ambassadors, 2014 will be Chad's fifteenth season on the WPCA Pro Tour. With storied victories at the Calgary Stampede GMC Rangeland Derby and Edmonton's Chuckwagon Derby in 2009, the Ponoka Stampede in 2002 and the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship in 2010, Chad has the reputation of a driver who can win the big ones. 2013 saw Chad post 12 top ten runs, including 2 day  money runs and 2 runs that placed inside the top five. He was runner-up to the inaugural Saskatoon World Chuckwagon Races, and had additional top ten overall finishes at the GMC Rangeland Derby and the Grande Prairie Stompede. Chad received the prestigious WPCA Chuckwagon Person of the Year Award in 2006, won the Calgary Stampede's Orville Strandquist Award for top rookie driver in 2001, has had two horses named to the WPCA’s Equine Outfit of Excellence, and was the WPCA's Top Rookie Driver in 2000. He has twice been a semi-finalist at the Calgary Stampede, and in 2009 he became just the third driver to boast wins in both of Alberta’s major cities in a single year. Chad was the first chuckwagon driver to win association and Calgary Stampede top rookie honors in a single year, the first driver to win the top rookie driver at the Calgary Stampede and go on to win the GMC Rangeland Derby Championship, and introduced “Skippy the Squirrel” - chuckwagon racing’s first mascot. Chad has qualified for the GMC Rangeland Derby every year since he started driving back in 2000, and is a scout for the Prince George Cougars of the WHL. He is a third generation chuckwagon driver, whose grandfather Leroy Harden and father Robert Harden drove wagons for many years. Chad owns and operates Generation Chemicals Inc. - an oilfield chemical company - and is a big sports fan. Chad, his wife Dori have 4 children - Montana, Cheyenna, Dawson and Denver - and make their home near Mulhurst Bay, Alberta.
