A champion chuckwagon driver who just came off the finest year of his career, 2012 saw Kirk win the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship, his third career Battle of the North in Dawson Creek, B.C., and established new track records at both locations as well. He was runner up to the 2012 World Chuckwagon Championship, his horse “Skippy” was named to the Calgary Stampede’s inaugural Equine Outfit of Excellence, and his horse “Cougar” was named to the WPCA’s Equine Outfit of Excellence. Kirk posted 25 top ten runs in 2012, which included 10 first place runs and 9 runs that cracked the top five. He won three day monies at the 2012 GMC Rangeland Derby which was the start of an incredible streak of what is blieved to be a record eight consecutive day monies by the same four horses, and qualified for back to back winner–take–all finals at the Battle of the North in Dawson Creek, and the Battle of the Rockies in Rocky Mountain House.Kirk has qualified for the GMC Rangeland Derby’s winner–take–all final three times, was the WPCA Most Improved Outfit award winner in 1984, and along with his brother Kelly are the only brother combination to qualify for the GMC Rangeland Derby’s winner–take–all final in the same year and it happened all three years Kirk made it into the final. Kirk and his wife Kathy have four children - Mitch, Traci, Misty, and Ashley – and make their home in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
