Personal Information
A second generation chuckwagon driver from one of the famous families in chuckwagon racing, Troy will be entering his 19th consecutive season on the WPCA Pro Tour. 2013 saw Troy post 4 top ten runs with a sixth place overall finish at the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship being his best of the year. In 2011, Troy was among the top four drivers on the WPCA Pro Tour in terms of number of day monies won. He received the WPCA Showmanship Award for Professionalism in 2003, and has qualified for two winner–take–all championship final heats on two of chuckwagon racing’s biggest stages at the Ponoka Stampede and Edmonton’s Chuckwagon Derby. Troy started his driving career at age 16 on the NPCA (now CPCA) circuit, and received the NPCA’s Most Sportsmanlike Driver award in 1992. Troy is the son of the late Herman Flad - former Calgary Stampede Rangeland Derby Champion, and younger brother to current driver Darcy Flad. In the off season, Troy is the owner/operator of Giddy-Up Go Trucking - a winch truck and oilfield hauling service, and along with his wife Shannon and son Blaid operate a cow/calf operation as well. Troy and Shannon have five children - Randilee, Blaid, Gage, Trez, and Shayle, and make their home in Warburg, Alberta.
