The 2013 Race Against Hunger Program
Encana is proud to support the WPCA as part of the company’s commitment to enhance communities where they live and work, and to support rural lifestyles. An evolution of our partnership created the Race Against Hunger program in 2010. Now in its third year, the program helps raise food, funds and awareness for food banks during summer when donations are typically fewer, despite constant need.
Last year the Race Against Hunger raised almost $103,346.49 and 11,586 pounds of food for local food banks in select GMC Pro Tour locations.
Want to get behind us in making 2013 even more successful?
It’s simple: You bring donations of non-perishable food or cash to Encana’s natural-gas powered Truck Wagon and they’ll match it, dollar for dollar or $2 per pound of food.

Did you say "Truck Wagon"?
Don’t you mean a chuckwagon? Not exactly. Encana is converting our fleet to run on clean-burning natural gas, and the Truck Wagon is one pick up outfitted by the company with its very own tarp! Encana thought it would be a perfect collection point for donations of non-perishable food and cash. Look for it this summer in select tour-stop locations and for more information on natural gas vehicles checkout:

The Heat is on for Food Driver of the Year!
WPCA drivers are gearing up to race down hunger this summer and Encana responded with a friendly challenge. As part of their on-going relationship with the WPCA, Encana issued a friendly challenge to the drivers. Whomever engages his friends, family and sponsors to raise the most food and cash for Race Against Hunger will be recognized as the official ‘Food Driver of the Year’ and will be eligible for a $1,000 prize and matching donation to the food bank of his choice, courtesy of Encana.Not to mention bragging rights!
If you want to support your favourite driver this year, please bring your donation to the Truck Wagon in a labelled bag or envelope so it can be added to the tally! Watch the website for updates as to who is in the lead.
